The verdict
The 969 modernizes the Sovereign around the player’s body and preferred resistance. It is lighter than the Prestige, places the leadpipe for a more comfortable hold, and ships with six adaptors that let the player move between quicker response and greater resistance. Its 292 mm bell also splits the difference between the traditional 967 and 968 sizes.
That makes the 969 the ergonomic, configurable alternative to the Sovereign 967/968, not its automatic replacement. A buyer should spend enough time with the adaptors to identify a stable preference and should decide separately whether the optional trigger is necessary.
