The verdict

The EU5500 is the larger, more elaborate alternative to Mack’s 642-based EU1150S. Its 12.3-inch bell, .590-to-.661-inch stepped bore, stainless pistons, and main-slide adjustment lever aim at a broad professional-style instrument rather than the lowest possible entry price.

Mack’s current page supplies the missing specifications, but it also lists the key as BBb—almost certainly a catalog error for this euphonium. Confirm that point with the seller before purchase. At this price, comparison should include valve alignment, compression, trigger operation, finish, and service support, not simply the size of the bell.

Who it's for
Strong advancing or professional players who want a bigger-bell direct-sale compensator and can evaluate whether its broad sound and ergonomics suit them.
Known for
A larger bell than the EU1150S, stainless pistons, nickel slides, tuning adjustment lever, valve water catcher, silver finish, and optional gold trim.
Watch out
Mack's page labels the key as BBb even though it markets the instrument as a euphonium; confirm this apparent listing error directly. The JinBao attribution is also trade knowledge, not a published factory statement.
