Linkola’s groove must remain alive even in the most technically demanding writing. Subdivision should feel internal rather than counted, allowing syncopations to spring and long lines to float over a stable rhythmic base.

The concerto also needs broad planning. Define each movement’s central character, save the brightest high-register sound for meaningful peaks, and treat the ensemble as a rhythmic partner rather than a backdrop.
