Each movement needs its own rhythmic dialect. The first should spring, the second should float over the accompaniment, and the finale should swing with precision rather than become square or breathless.
The adaptation is highly idiomatic, but its ease on the instrument can hide the structural work required. Shape the concerto in large spans and preserve color, dynamic range, and physical reserve for the final movement.
