The surface is continuous, but it should not be uniform. Grouping, harmonic contour, and changes of register must remain audible inside the rapid stream.

Efficiency decides the piece. Use minimal tongue and valve motion, plan breaths without breaking direction, and practice below performance volume so clarity—not force—creates the excitement.
