The euphonium can sustain Chaminade’s broad melody naturally, but the decorative writing must retain the flute original’s lightness. Air, fingers, and tongue should coordinate so the ornament never sounds pasted onto the phrase.

The familiar cadenza is an interpretive test as well as a technical one. A successful performance preserves forward motion, saves its largest sound for structural peaks, and keeps the piano in the conversation.
