Tier labels describe a maker's product line, not a universal playing standard. Choose from the required valve system, response, ergonomics, consistency, and service support; a suitable student or intermediate horn is better than a professional model that solves problems you do not have.
Should I rent or buy a euphonium
Rent or borrow while you are testing the commitment, the instrument, or a school requirement. Buy when you know the type of euphonium you need, can play-test it, and expect to keep it long enough to justify the larger decision.
